the boring guy

Named for the work, not the personality.

I’m [owner name]. I’ve been digging trenches around Melbourne for [X] years. I started The Boring Guy after one too many good driveways got cut in half for a 50 mm conduit.

Most of what I do is small: a power run to a shed, a water line to the veggie patch, a bore under a path so the pavers stay put. Small jobs still deserve someone who checks first and cleans up after.

How I work.

  • Check twice, dig once.

Every job goes through Before You Dig Australia, and I locate on site before a machine touches the ground.

  • Price first.

You get a fixed price in writing before I start. If the ground surprises us, you hear about it before it costs you.

  • Leave it how I found it.

Trenches compacted, turf back down, spoil gone. You get photos of the run before it’s covered.

The gear.

Sized for backyards and side gates, not building sites.

  • Mini excavator, 1.7 t

Tracks in through a 1 m gate. Trenches, pits and footings.

  • Walk-behind trencher

Cuts a clean 100 to 150 mm trench, 900 mm deep, through lawn without wrecking it.

  • Boring rig

Pushes conduit up to 30 m under driveways, paths and garden beds.

  • Post-hole auger

150 to 600 mm holes, straight and to depth.

  • Vacuum excavation

Hired in when we’re digging right next to gas or power.

  • Tipper

Spoil leaves the same day it comes out.
